Three formats · one spirit

The same Țuică, in three sizes

Every bottle in this line carries the identical distillate — same orchard, same double-distillation in copper alambics, same ZETEA house profile. The difference is not in the liquid, but in the occasion: a discovery flask, a signature bottle, and a full-format house pour.

Zetea of Transylvania — A story that cannot be told in a few words

The discipline of the ZETEA method

Precision through distillation

Țuică Zetea de Transilvania is produced from plums through a three-stage distillation process conducted according to the ZETEA Method. Each stage allows the distiller to refine the spirit while preserving the recognizable character of its fruit origin. Bottled at 50% ABV.

Three distillations. One exacting standard.

ZETEA Method · Triple distilled
  1. STAGE 01

    Fermented plums

    Estate-sourced Transylvanian plums, naturally fermented.

  2. STAGE 02

    First distillation

Initial pass in copper still-fire boilers.

  3. STAGE 03

    Second distillation

Refinement pass — profile begins to concentrate.

  4. STAGE 04

    Third distillation

Final ZETEA pass, defining clarity and character.

  5. STAGE 05

    Selection

Manual selection before resting and bottling at 50% ABV.

Understanding the standard

How methanol is measured in fruit spirits

Methanol occurs naturally during the fermentation and distillation of fruit, particularly in spirits produced from pectin-rich fruits. European regulations therefore establish category-specific maximum limits measured in grams per hectoliter of pure alcohol — not as a simple percentage of the finished drink.

EU maximum for plum spirit

1,200 g/hl

of pure alcohol

Regulatory maximum under Regulation (EU) 2019/787 for plum spirit. This is a maximum compliance threshold, not a target production level.

Did you know?

ZETEA's methanol levels are a fraction of the legal maximum.

European law permits up to 1,200 g/hl of methanol in plum spirit. ZETEA operates far below that ceiling — and the Japanese-market expression pushes the standard further still.

300 g/hl

Japan-Market Expression

100 g/hl

A dedicated export specification

Four times distilled for Japan

For a dedicated Japanese-market expression, ZETEA applies an additional fourth distillation and a more demanding technical specification. This version reflects the producer's ability to adapt its traditional method to exacting export requirements while maintaining the identity of the original plum spirit.

"Quality is not expressed only through strength, age, or presentation. It is also reflected in the control exercised throughout production."

ZETEA's repeated distillation process demonstrates a disciplined approach to refinement, consistency, and export specification — combining traditional plum distillation with measurable technical control.

Regulatory reference

European regulatory reference: Regulation (EU) 2019/787, Annex I, fruit-spirit category. The maximum methanol content for plum spirit is 1,200 grams per hectoliter of 100% vol. alcohol. Producer laboratory results, certificate numbers, production lot data, and testing dates are held by ZETEA and shared with qualified trade partners under NDA.
